Shine on You Crazy Diamond... |

The picture above from the movie "The Wall"
reflects the mood I am mostly in. My life could be described as
placid--intermixed with periods of extreme obsession. Oh, by the way,
I haven't told you yet that I am a scientist by profession. I am
working at the Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics
( IUCAA) in Pune. As you can
imagine, it is a dull and dismal place. But gloom goes well with the
kind of existence we are used to. I have been in this place for quite
a long time, well, too long anyway! Like I was
saying, scientist's are a dull lot. They are even duller than all the
books they write! In part this dullness (squareness, if you will)
comes from their preoccupation with trying to be precise in what they
say. Science itself is a lot of fun, though, and I would like to tell
you a little bit about how science works and how beautiful it is. I
have collected a series of short essays
where I explain, in simple words, various facts related to my
work. I play the guitar. I fell in
love with this instrument early in my childhood but did not get around
to learning it seriously till I was past twenty. A lot of musicians
have inspired me and entertained me over the years. If you would like
to know a few of them better then check out my musical
inspirations section. Learning guitar has been a continuous and
never ending process. There are a lot of sites devoted to the study of
this instrument. A few of them are listed in Guitar related
sites. If you would like to know about my other interests then
check out my hobbies
section. If you would like to see what
I do for living you can check out my research and
papers. .
And finally...
Just because you like my stuff doesn't mean I owe you anything...
