2019 Justice V. G. Oak Award for outstanding Ph.D. thesis in Astronomy

Dear All,
I am happy to share with you that Dr. Saurabh Singh, ex-JAP student and presently a Postdoctoral Fellow at McGill University, Canada, received the 2019 Justice V. G. Oak Award for outstanding Ph.D. thesis in Astronomy. The award consists of books and a medal. Saurabh did his Ph.D under the supervision of Prof. Ravi Subrahmanyan (RRI), Prof. N. Udaya Shankar (RRI), Prof. Shiv Sethi (RRI), and Prof. Chanda J. Jog (IISc). Also, current JAP student Ms. Prerana Biswas got awards of best poster in Extragalactic Astronomy category for her poster "Kinematics of nearby spiral galaxies with different inclination angles using 21cm HI interferometric data". The award consists of Rs. 5,000/- as cash prize and a certificate. The awards were announced at the Annual Meeting of the Astronomical Society of India held at IISER Tirupati (February 13 - 17, 2020).
